1st Prize Winner: Capstone Consulting Group, LLC
Capstone Consulting Group, LLC is a woman-owned, small business offering emergency planning, financial, acquisition and budget consulting services to the Federal government. As a prime contractor with the Department of Homeland Security, we help our nation prepare for a pandemic influenza disaster. Although we primarily work at the Federal level, we serve our community by being involved with local disaster preparedness planning efforts. Winning the 2008 CBP Business Plan Contest is a great encouragement to us and affirms that we have set a solid direction for the future of our company. We thank the CBP and the judges who took the time and effort to make this contest possible! Website: www.capstone-cg.com Don't forget to read about Capston Consulting in our Hall of Fame
2nd Prize Winner: Angel Handbags Angel Handbags was established in November of 2007, as an online retailer of designer handbags with a focus on selling newer, up-and-coming designers in addition to more established brands. We believe this mix gives consumers a taste of the brands they've come to love over the years as well as newer brands they will come to love in the future...it's the best of both worlds! We also aim to make our customer's shopping experience the best possible by giving them tons of additional features when they register with us, like: Rate a handbag you own, create a wishlist, track your orders, print receipts, track gift certificate balances and so much more! Being a winner in this year's competition means a great deal to me. As an entrepreneur, every day brings new struggles and challenges...but, when you can be recognized for your efforts and sacrifice, it gives you renewed motivation and hope to pursue your vision. In addition to the award, the Women's Business Center has been a tremendous help to me...from counseling sessions with Lisa Goodman to my NxLevel program with DeShawn Robinson, and every kind word and helping hand from Barbara and the rest of the staff in addition to all of the awesome workshops, I feel truly blessed to have such a great network of support! Thanks, Women's Business Center! Website: www.AngelHandbags.com

3rd Prize Winner: Nelson Funeral Home, LLCNelson Funeral Home, LLC will be a newly established funeral home owned by Shaye L. Nelson in Fairfax, Virginia. The funeral home will provide dignified, compassionate, and respectful care and extraordinary value for all families in their time of need. Nelson Funeral Home has an obligation to bring people together, both to celebrate life when it ends and to progress with living. Our facilities will be a focus of energies to make the community a better place to live and for families to remember the life of their loved ones as well as renew bonds of social support.
Being recognized as one of the top three winners of the business plan contest was both an honor and a privilege. When I realized that I was a finalist, it confirmed that I can press on, conquer my dreams, and be as successful as my goals allow! Website: Coming soon!
