 The 2007 Veterans in Business Conference was a great success! A sol-out audience of 55 participants attended the all-day event at the Community Business Partnership on Friday, June 22.  During the day, the veterans heard terrific speakers from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affiars, Commerce Bank, The Small Business Administration, the Virginia Procurement Technical Assistance Program, and the Veterans Corporation. 

 Participants learned useful tips from prime contractors that have been awarded many distinctions for their outstanding efforts to team-up with veteran-owned businesses such as BAE Systems, CSC and General Dynamics.  The keynote speaker, Chuck Mills of Salera Capital Management, a veteran adn entrepreneur himself, shared insights about how to do business with the government by explaining "Veteran to Veteran: The Politics of Procurement."

Another hot topic of the day was the new Patriot Express Loan being offered by SBA's network of participating lenders nationwide and featuring SBAs fastest turnaround time for loan approvals. Loans are available upto $500,000 can be used for most business purposes, including star-up, expansion, equipment purchases, working capital, inventory or business-occupied real-estate purchases.
