Business Plan Contest Rules

What will the judges look for:

The judges will look for clear and convincing answers to the following questions:
  • Why did you decide to start this business?
  • What is your product or service?
  • Why will your business be successful?
  •  Why are you uniquely qualified to operate this business? (please include your resume)
  •  What is your industry and the market in which you operate?
  •  Who is your customer (who will buy your product or service)?
  •  Who are your competitors?
  •  What is your competitive advantage?
  •  What are the financial needs of this venture?
  •  What to Submit Submit six (6) unbound copies with a cover page on each. The cover page should include:
              •  Name of Business
              •  Name of Owner(s) (person submitting the plan)
              •  Logo and/or Slogan
              •  Business Address and Phone Number
              •  Website Address and/or Email Address
              •  Phrase: Submitted Solely for Consideration by the Business Plan Review Panel of the Community Business Partnership.
Please Note:
 
  • No appendices (except resume)
  •  Executive Summary should be no longer than 2 pages; Limit financials to 2 pages
  •  Maximum Plan Length: 20 pages (resume and cover page should be included in page count)
  •  $50 fee (waived if you are a CBP NxLeveL™ graduate)

 

 

 

 Deadline Date: Wednesday, April 17, 2008 5:00pm EDT - No exceptions!

 Package delivered by hand or certified mail (with return receipt) to:

 Eligibility 

  • Client of the Community Business Partnership as of April 18, 2007 (viaparticipation in training or counseling from any CBP Program) ~ AND ~
  •  Be in the start-up phase OR own an existing for-profit business less than 2 years old
