Environment

In August of 2007 the Community Business Partnership engaged in a transformational endeavor to reduce the environmental impact of its activities and promote sustainable business practices throughout our constituents. In line with our value of “Live by Example,” we first implemented an environmental assessment to identify our environmental aspects. We then designated teams to develop and implement several measures to reduce key environmental impact of our operations and selected and environmental champion to motivate, evaluate and improve our environmental performance.

Due to the nature of our operations most of the changes are focused on reducing, reusing and recycling solid waste.

Along with our internal changes we are also leading two initiatives to expand our reach our small business clients.

Computer Take Back Event

In conjunction with earth day we organized a computer take-back event program. The response has been phenomenal and in a short period of time we have a great response from the Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce and other local and federal government organizations. Partnering with Cell Phones for Soldiers

An organization that we are proud to support in an ongoing basis is cell phone for soldiers. More than 150,000 U.S. troops are serving overseas and are away from their families.  CBP has recently partnered with Cell Phones for Soldiers and encourages you to support these brave men and women by donating your unused cell phones. Cell Phones for Soldiers hopes to collect over 50,000 cell phones to help keep troops connected with their families.  You are also contributing to the environment by making sure that dangerous chemical and valuable materials are disposed correctly!

Local residents can support the collection drive by donating their phones at the Community Business Partnership, 7001 Loisdale Rd., Suite C,Springfield, VA 22301.

We send them to Cell Phone for Soldiers and they send the phones to ReCellular, which pays Cell Phones for Soldiers for each donated phone - enough to provide an hour of talk time to soldiers abroad.
